Will the picture from a basic dvd player be seen better on a hd tv ? - hd dvd
I bought an HDTV and I have a Phillips DVD standard also just purchased. I wonder if I need a special cable to connect the DVD player connected to (which I do not know, is an HD DVD player) on TV to get the best possible picture, or should I just A / V cable from the DVD provided with. I havent done anything yet, and I'm afraid that I set expectations too high. Input is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you should be grateful. At least the new TV, you can use the aspect ratio. Large, Full, 4:3, etc.
Some TVs, the input signals to convert SD for you.
HDMI cable, video and audio link implementation is the best, followed by component (RGB), S-Video and composite.
Improve the quality of digital audio optical or coaxial for 5.1 surround sound.
L / R stereo output available.

It's funny how people perceive things. Since the playback of high resolution requires a pixel can fine point, it seems that the standard high-resolution video with more clarity, will be displayed.
According to this logic, plays in a movie in black and white, a color TV, was the color in the old movie set, right?
Yes, I have actually "professional" people who have worked in industry for years, I believe that copying a VHS tape to improve Betacam resolution.
You can not create what was never there to begin. Standard definition video to high-resolution camera will continue to look at standard resolution. It was not bad, but not, as it can see better, either.
Let's face it, by a dog turd in a Rolls Royce will not only improve the quality of dog turd that no matter how much it pays to Rolls Royce.
